What is the format? Goodmeet @'s are formatted as a participant driven “unconferences”.
They built on a foundation of "Open Space Technology". This event is not for everyone – it is for participants not spectators, producers more than consumers, the curious rather than the passive. You can participate in many ways...it is the spirit that counts. Lead or collaborate on a session, help document or twitter about a session, float among sessions and help make connections, take responsibility to make the event a bit better. Participants are asked come on-time to get oriented to the format with the group, and then encouraged to stay the entire event to maintain the integrity of the community. Please participate by helping us spread the word about the event. Blog about the event, email your friends, twitter away. Become a sponsor. Questions/Ideas: contact us.

How do I prepare? No formal preparation is necessary but everyone who attends is encouraged to bring questions and topics related to the theme of goodmeet. These questions/topics are the foundation of the event and participants are encouraged to bring one or many topics. We will focus your passion and ask you take responsibility for getting your questions answered and your topics addressed. What should I bring?: Burning questions, knowledge to share, laptops, workshops, presentations, business cards, inventions, posters, notebooks, games... What works? Anything goes. Sessions seem to work well when they are focused. People get engaged when they get their hand dirty, are sharply focused on an interesting question, or get on their feet. Of course discussions work, but also consider: Leading a workshop, a tour, or a formal debate. Organizing a how-to session, a show-and-tell, a series of 3min product demos, or a panel discussion. Creating the opportunity for people to express themselves by doing things like drawing, cooking, or playing theater games. Offering a chance for participants to use their body as well as their minds in yoga sessions, walks, and mini-dance parties. Here is a good summary from a "creative unconference" that took place in NYC.
